Ram Band: 2010 Season BEGINS!!!!

Good Afternoon,

Today marks the beginning of the 2010 Marching “Ram” Band season!!!  Your student leaders met last Friday to prepare for the season and our leadership this year is very strong.  I have every confidence in their abilities to lead the Ram Band into a fantastic season and beyond.

  1. Pre-Camp Rehearsals are tonight, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 7:00-8:30PM.  All members are required to attend unless they have received authorization by Mr. Herrmann, Ms. Fletcher, or Ms. Harrow to be excused.  Athletic shoes and socks are required at all times.  Leave your flip flops and sandals at home.  Don’t forget your instrument, pencil, and great attitude!
  2. Hydration:  As everyone knows by now, I’m a HUGE proponent of water.  Mother Nature has finally kicked in the humidity and heat of summer.  I ask everyone to drink plenty of water before and after all rehearsals.  Please avoid energy drinks such as Monster, Rockstar, and Amp.  Caffeine only provides a quick boost in heat and humidity but it can dehydrate you just as fast; Water is long lasting.  Hydration is the key to surviving and conquering the heat!!!
  3. Forms: All forms are due by this Friday, July 30th.  This includes Emergency Medical Form (GOLDEN), Band Camp Permission/Cabin Request (BRIGHT ORANGE), Handbook Agreement (BRIGHT PINK), Email Address Form (LIME GREEN), Concession Sign Up (BLUE), Band Note Order Form + Payment (if you haven’t ordered before…YELLOW).  All forms can be turned in to Mr. Boyd Tressler.
  4. Band Camp Payments:  All band camp payments are due prior to departure for band camp.  Checks/Money Orders made payable to: WIMBA.  If you have any questions or concerns regarding Band Camp Fees, please speak to Mr. Herrmann as soon as possible.
  5. Wednesday Night - Football Program Pictures:  We are postponing football program pictures until after band camp.  Several members are concluding their family vacations this week and we don’t want them to miss out.
  6. Band Camp Meeting & Potluck: Don’t forget this Thursday evening!!!!  Our yearly family band camp meeting will begin at 6:30PM in the WYHS Auditorium.  WIMBA will be hosting a Family Potluck Dinner for all band members and their families immediately following the meeting.  We will be providing hot dogs, refreshments, and table service.  Similar to our spring awards banquet, we ask students/families with last names beginning with A-K to bring side dish and students/families with last names M-Z to bring one dessert to share.  This is an opportunity for our band families, WIMBA, and band staff to meet, chat, and discuss band-related activities.

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to email me!

SEE YOU TONIGHT AND GO RAMS!!!

Mr. Herrmann

Parades Follow Up & This Week

My sincere congratulations and appreciation to everyone for their hard work and dedication this week.  The beautiful weather during the middle of last week gave way to extreme heat and humidity.  Everyone accepted the challenge and put on two great performances Sunday and yesterday.  Our new members stepped up to the plate and did a great job in their first week.  Congrats to everyone!  As we now look forward to the 2010 season, we know the potential within in us and where we need to grow starting in just 20 days.  That’s right!  Our first pre-band camp rehearsal is Monday, July 26 at 7:00PM.

2010-2011 Ram Band Packets
Later this week, we will mail out the 2010-2011 Ram Band Packets.  Each packet will include information regarding: 2010-2011 Ram Band Calendar, Uniforms, Band Notes, Fees, Medical Forms, Band Camp Policies, Band Camp Permission, Code of Conduct, and Parental Permission.  Nearly all questions and concerns regarding rules and expectations are outlined within the packet.  Please read through everything carefully.

WIMBA – Thursday July 8 – 6:30PM
The July WIMBA meeting will be held this Thursday evening in the WYHS Band Room.  The general meeting will begin at 6:30PM.  All parents are highly encouraged to attend.

Next Level Football Camp – Saturday July 10 – Early AM
This coming Saturday, July 10th is the Next Level Football Camp hosted at WYHS.  We will muster in the band room on Saturday morning at 6:30AM.  Yes, 6:30.  We’ll warm up, sight read some music from the pep band books, and then make our way to the stadium.  Breakfast is provided for any band members who perform.  Any/all band members are welcome to come and perform during the registration process.  This is not required; but it’s a great way for us to give back to the community for supporting us.

Special Thanks
A big huge THANK YOU goes out to our Water Crew.  I know we wouldn’t have been as successful without the support!

ATTENTION STUDENTS
If you have a school-owned marching band instrument at home; I need those returned this afternoon or tomorrow morning!!!  This includes: piccolos, saxes, mellos, baritones, and sousaphones.  Drop them off at the front office; as I won’t be in until tomorrow around lunch.

GO RAMS!!!
